    Town Hall: Effective Representation in Mediation

    Mr. Baum moderated a town hall-style discussion on Effective Representation in Mediation, hosted by the Federal Bar Association's Southern District of New York Chapter and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. The cocktail reception held both before and after the program made for an extra lively event. The program benefited immensely from the presence of SDNY Chief Judge Loretta Preska, who kicked off the festivities by providing the opening remarks.

    What made the program unique was that Rebecca Price, the Court's ADR Coordinator, invited all SDNY mediators to attend and give their views of best practices in a lively, facilitated discussion. We invited representatives of parties in mediation to attend and share their views as well. Rounding out the speakers’ panel was Rebecca Price and Jeff Kichaven, the current Chair of the FBA's ADR Section, who flew in from LA to lead off the discussion with some of his own thoughts on effective representation in mediation. The closing cocktail reception put the finishing touches on what was a great evening, and a very well-received CLE event.
