BRIDGE THE GAP: ADR, Focus on Mediation – Tips for Counselors and Advocates
Mr. Baum had the great pleasure to participate in a training program as part of the ongoing “Bridge The Gap” series focusing on newly admitted attorneys entitled ADR: Focus on Mediation – Tips for Counselors and Advocates. The two-day training broached a wide range of issues sensitive to new attorneys, including ethics, professional responsibility, state civil procedure, trial techniques, clarity in legal writing, building a practice, stress management and alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Baum delivered the portion of the program focused on ADR, in which he explored the growth and scope of ADR, statistics and satisfaction, conflict, the ADR spectrum, benefits of mediation, mediator and mediator function, attorney role, negotiation theory, ethical issues, among others. The new attorney participants were particularly engaged and enthusiastic about the prospects of utilizing ADR in their respective practices.
The program was sponsored and hosted by the New York County Lawyers’ Association. The PowerPoint for Mr. Baum’s ADR segment can be found here: Bridge-the-Gap2000
