Two - Day Advanced Commercial Mediation Training

    Online Training

Last week we completed our Part 146 approved, 2-day online Advanced Commercial Mediation training.
It was a delight and honor spending time with our trainig particpants, facilitators and guests who brought unique insights and experience, generating stimulating dialogue and lively and entertaining exercises and role-plays. Thank you for your engagement and significant contributions to our group experience.

We would also like to thank a number of people who made this possible, and to share with you some tips and information that might be helpful in your ADR practice.

Thank you to New York State Bar Association:
We would like to thank our Program Chair, Evan Spelfogel, who not only provided us with his valuable insights, but helpfully filled in for missing participants during the role-plays and, in addition, facilitated role-play exercises; the New York State Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section and its Chair, Jill Pilgrim; and all those on NYSBA's staff, starting with the devoted and immensely hard-working Simone Smith, Continuing Legal Education Program Manager; Kathy Suchocki, Associate Executive Director of NYSBA; @Pat Stockli, Director, CLE, Law Practice Management & Sections and Meeting Services; Mercedes Peno and the entire NYSBA team. The NYSBA staff worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

    Thank you to Our Facilitators:
Every year we hear from program participants that the role plays were perhaps their favorite part of this experience, and this year is no exception. We cannot sufficiently thank the highly experienced mediators who shared their time and insight with us for each of our three major role plays Thomas (Tom) Rothschild, Krista Gottlieb, Richard Janvey, Marilyn K Genoa, Stephen A. Marshall, Tom Wiegand, William Bierce, Pamela Esterman, Bart Eagle, Evan Spelfogel

Thank you to our Guest Presenter:
We would add thanks, as well, to Tom Wiegand, for doing double duty, not only as Facilitator, but for delivering a presentation on brainstorming, drawing on his post Law School work with the legendary Roger Fisher, of the Harvard Negotiation Project.

Thank you to the Court, et al.:
We are deeply grateful to our kick-off speaker, Hon. Nancy Bannon, J.S.C., of New York County's Commercial Division, for delivering our program's kick-off remarks, and for her avid support of mediation in the New York Courts. We are grateful to Hon. Joel Kullas, Regional ADR Coordinator for his comprehensive description of the New York State Court System's ADR Department, and on statewide ADR activities and service opportunities. We likewise thank Albert M. Levi, ADR Coordinator of the Civil Division for Bronx County, for his comprehensive description of ADR activities in the Bronx Supreme Court and for his pragmatic advice on how to find opportunities to serve and how best to be helpful to the Court and its users.

Special thanks must go to Ia Kurkhuli and Ryder Fleming-Jones, who put tremendous work behind the scenes into making this happen.
