3-Day Commercial Mediation Training at Fordham Law School
On May 23rd, we completed Part 146 approved, 3-day Commercial Mediation training. It was a delight and honor spending time with all of our trainees and guests. This was our first in-person training at Fordham University School of Law since the commencement of COVID.
We would like to thank a number of people who made this possible:
Thank you to our Hosts:
For starters, we must thank our hosts at Fordham Law School for their extraordinary hospitality. We give special thanks to my co-trainer Paul Radvany and his assistant Brennan Hawsey for their support with the training and the facilities; to Shanelle Holley from Fordham's Office of Public Programs & CLE and Joshua Hornung from Fordham's tech team; to the Aramark Services caterers; and to all the others at Fordham Law School for making us feel at home and generously providing their support to this training.
Thank you to NYSBA:
We would like to thank the New York State Bar Association, New York State Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section and its Chair Jeff Anderson; and all those on NYSBA's staff, starting with Simone Smith, Continuing Legal Education Program Manager; Pat Stockli, Director, CLE, Law Practice Management & Sections and Meeting Services; Kathy Suchocki, Associate Executive Director of NYSBA, @Melva Bigger, and the entire NYSBA team. The NYSBA staff worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
Thank you to Our Facilitators:
Every year we hear from program participants that the role plays and facilitators' feedback during panel discussions were perhaps their favorite part of this experience, and this year is no exception. We cannot sufficiently thank the 14 highly experienced mediators who shared their time and insight with us for each of our three major role plays: Richard Janvey, Pamela Esterman, Bart Eagle, John Libby, Chris Fladgate, Tom Wiegand, Alan Sacks, Erica Levine Powers, Felicia Farber, Chris McDonald, Holly H. Weiss, Dr. Diane Rosen, Glen Parker, Paul Radvany
Thank you to the Court, et al.:
We would like to thank Hon. Anar Rathod Patel, Judge for Commercial Division, New York County, for delivering our program's kick-off remarks. We are grateful for the longstanding support of Joel Kullas and Bridget O'Connell, Regional ADR Coordinators; and to Glen Parker, Assistant Deputy Chief Appellate Court Attorney for Mandatory Civil Appeals Mediation Program (MCAMP). We thank Albert M. Levi, ADR Coordinator of the Civil Division for Bronx County for his comprehensive description of ADR activities in the Bronx Supreme Court.
Special Thanks:
Special thanks must go to Ia Kurkhuli and Ryder Fleming Jones of Resolve Mediation Services, Inc., who worked even over nights and weekends to make this happen. I would like to thank my mentor, Stephen Hochman and our guest speaker Emily Altman, for their support and insights on pragmatic and effective approaches to commercial mediation.
