The Mediator’s Art: NDNY Mediation Training – November 15, 2013
Mr. Baum, joined by two Dentons lawyers, Steve Marshall and Brian Cousins, presented a one-day mediation training for Northern District of New York commercial mediators. The all-day training was held at the elegant Hotel Utica, in scenic upstate New York.
The topics explored during the day included mediator effectiveness, negotiation theory and skills, barriers to resolution and ways to overcome impasse, a close look at the stages of mediation, and mediation ethics. The training also featured a commercial role play, and ended with an open forum which turned out to be a wonderfully interactive discussion among the participants.
